We are in the beginning stages of drying out the side decks of this 36′ Carver Mariner. Moisture readings varied between 11% and 30+%. There are several soft spots when walking on the side decks.
These are the results after 1 week of high pressure drying.
These are the initial moisture readings of the inboard stringers.
This is the finished repair. We have dried these stringers to < 5% moisture and infused them with a two part epoxy system. We finished the repair by sanding and painting the area after the epoxy had been infused and allowed cure time. Here is the Starboard & Port Inside stringers aft of the motor mounts. Port sides initial moisture reading are between 14% and 22%. Starboard’s moisture readings are between 18% and 23%. We have drilled several injection holes to a predetermined depth. You can see the different color in the wood shavings. The darker shavings are wetter than the lighter colored shavings. These stringers are in the beginning stages of repair. The port Stringer, forward of the engine mount had an initial moisture reading of 15%. After, one week, 168 hours of intense pressure drying the stringer is reading 7% moisture. The Starboard stringer, forward of the engine mount had an initial moisture reading of 25%.
